What's Their Story?
Hidden lives behind the doors of a Victorian street in Devon
Behind the door
13 Dolvin Road
Re-marriages and blended families are part of the early history of 13 Dolvin Road.
John Isaac and wife Rosamund were among the Dolvin Road residents born in the 18th century - both came into the world in 1797. They were living at number 13 in 1851 with Rosamund's daughter from her first marriage, Isabel, and son-in law William Barriball. The Isaac's 14-year old niece, Jane Mallet also shared their home.

When Rosamund died, John re-married. He and his new wife, Catherine, had the place to themselves for a few years, but had a lodger, Richards Di(a)mond, in 1871, who was likely a relative of Catherine's.

William and Mary Eddy and their three children were in residence with a widowed Catherine Isaac by 1881. Mary's maiden name was Dimond.
