What's Their Story?
Hidden lives behind the doors of a Victorian street in Devon
Behind the door
19 Dolvin Road
James and Louisa Thomas and their brood of five children were the first family to live at number 19.

William and Mary Norris (nee Creber) and their two children were in residence 10 years later, and a decade later, John Knight and daughter Sarah lived there.
By 1881, Eliza and Annie Cole were living there, and had taken in a lodger, a young man in his early twenties called Albert Hutchings.

The next resident family was the Boons, and 10 years later, the Hutchings and then the Kendalls. By 1921, number 19 was home to William and Irene Howard, who had an 11-year son William and twin daughter aged six, Irene and Winifred.
