What's Their Story?
Hidden lives behind the doors of a Victorian street in Devon
Behind the door
24 Dolvin Road
Maria and Henry Martin were living here in 1851. Twenty years later, a widowed Mary was still living in the cottage with a young relative, James, a relative called Betsy Down and two further household members, James and Henry Cruze. Quite a houseful for a two-up, two down cottage.

By 1881, number 24 was home to the Rodda family, followed by the Elstons and then the Cross family, followed by the Knights for a spell, ad by 1921, the Rookes.
